What method could I use to determine the best possible release date for my band's album?

I have two answers for you, but I don't know how much they can help you:
1. Where I live there are just a few BIG and famous singers that release their new CDs into the holidays so people can buy the CD as a gift. (I guess). I don't think this is what you're looking for...
2. If your band's music is fun / happy music, then releasing it into the spring/summer will be better than into the depressing winter. The opposite will be appropriate to serious / depressing music.

You could pre-release a copy or a song through the internet to receive short feedback. In that way you could plan a date for your album launch.
