People that watch movies buy most consumer items.

popups and push ads are the most used.
Most networks will buy traffic conditionally;

• amount (volume)
  
• GEO
• and if you are streaming is the content licensed or legal

Most affiliate programs will consider the same values but might be less strict.

If, however, he is not violating any copyright laws, he could set up a Roku channel to generate ad revenue.
