Is a push ad the same as a mobile ad ...if not ..why not?

It's very similar, It kind of resembles what you are getting from apps for instance. That's because it works the same way on mobile, it's a message from your notification center. The same way you are allowing an app to send you notifications, you are getting this from sites or from ad sites which you subscribed on.

Push can be a form of a mobile ad, but there are way more mobile ad formats than just push (pop, display, etc.)
