International and expat marketing research

I am a rookie at this. I have gotten my feet wet but was scattered and allowed myself to be distracted instead of focused. I finally decided enough messing around. I either need to do this and build a serious business or move on. I believe I am focused now and heading in the right direction.

Internet marketing is expanding daily and people around the world are getting involved. It's not just Europe, North America and Australia. In my neighborhood I see growth in Singapore, Malaysia, India and China. But stilll the focus on the marketing seems to remain in Europe, North America and Australia.

I am looking for some guidance in the area of market research. I have restricted access to current English language magazines and newspapers to look at trends. I don't get English language advertisements on TV. So for anybody who is around the globe who have found resources for research I would appreciate some guidance or a nudge in the right direction.
