How to track affiliates when it comes to app downloads via link

Hello, what I want to ask is this, friends. To give Temu as an example, when you join Temu's affiliate program, you share your reference links on social media or on your high-traffic sites, but will someone who is directed to the Temu site through these links or who buys the product by downloading the Temu application instead of purchasing it from the site, still be followed or will it be perceived as if it was not sent by us? So, can temu track people who buy something by downloading the temu application instead of going to the site and purchasing through our links? And how does he do this?

They don't. Unless, your link is to the download of the app and it includes the user's attributed affiliate referrer ID. Then those in app purchases would be credited to that affiliate referrer.

Yapmazlar. Bağlantınız uygulamanın indirilmesine yönelik değilse ve kullanıcının atfedilen iştirak yönlendiren kimliğini içermiyorsa. O zaman uygulama içi satın alımlar o iştirak yönlendirenine yatırılır.

Thank you sir, I'm asking this except from affiliate program member side, I have dating app and planning to start an affiliate program whih pays to affiliates for every in app purchase, in this situation i wonder how can I track these. Well for example i will give link for every program member that contains my app's play store adress, how can I track if an user come from any affiliate members' link. Do I need web version for this or which affiliate management software can work with my android/ios app ?

@trione great question — and one that shows you’re thinking like a real performance marketer. ues, apps like Temu use tools like Appsflyer or Branch to track users even if they don’t buy on the site. once someone clicks a link, the tracking kicks in — even if they go through the app store and buy later inside the app. That’s how affiliate programs still credit you.

if you’re launching your own dating app affiliate program, you’ll want to set it up the same way: pair an MMP (like Appsflyer) with an affiliate platform (like Everflow, Affise, or even our own platform at ActiveRevenue). we work with performance buyers every day who monetize app installs and in-app purchases with precision targeting, transparent reporting, and real-time optimization. if you want help setting that up, or even want us to send traffic to your offer, dm me in private

Good question. That’s actually a really common issue with affiliate programs. Whether the sale gets tracked depends on if the platform supports tracking across web and app.

In Temu’s case, they probably use deep links or an SDK that connects the web session to the app install. That way, when someone clicks your link, downloads the app, and buys something there, it still counts for you. But a lot of affiliate tools can’t do that, which means you lose credit once the person switches from browser to app.

If you’re ever setting up your own program or looking for one that handles this properly, make sure it supports app install tracking or deep links that keep the referral data after someone downloads the app.

I’ve been using Insert Affiliate for that reason. It’s built for mobile apps and keeps tracking consistent even when people switch platforms. You can also test your links before going live to see exactly what gets tracked.

So yes, Temu can probably track it, but not every affiliate system can. It really depends on what technology they’re using behind the scenes.

Yes, Temu can still track users who install the app or buy after being redirected from your affiliate link, as long as their attribution system matches your referral through cookies, device IDs, or deep-linking.
