My first solid piece of advice to you is to read through the thread that my friend, @tyoussef posted above for you. Also, check out Newbie Helpdesk to see the kinds of challenges that all newbies face when starting out in this industry.
There is an absolute TON of information here in the forums to help you succeed. Our model is learn and teach. We have every level of marketer here, from complete newbie to seasoned expert. You need only start a thread to let us all know you need help. We're a family and we all help and watch out for each other.
