Use custom conversions. They'll allow you to track both event types and differentiate between leads and actual conversions.

Yes, you need to set it up accordingly on your affiliate network's side. So when an install is made, your affiliate network should fire a postback url with "et=install" parameter added, when a conversion is made - a postback url with no et parameter. Only this way Voluum will know how to assign the conversion (either custom or normal).
