Hi there my name is Steve Symington, and I am a plasterer by trade.
A mate of mine invented a brand new Internet Security Application (Still in the development stage) which can be sold to anyone who views Porn, Gaming websites, adult friend finder people who do internet banking etc etc, infact anyone who wants to hide their browsing to the other people in their household for an example if someone was watching a porn video they wouldnt want to be caught by their wife or children would they? the quickest reaction time could still leave the screen they are viewing in view to anyone that entered the room, also people may not want others viewing their internet bank balance.
However to get to the point
I will try personally to sell my product via PPC, ebay to gauge a need for the product as im not a marketing guy just a plasterer but i have been looking into becoming an affiliate for some time and think that i could do this myself with a little help and persiverance.

I have been told by a mate of mine who is an affiliate himself that i should use a reputable company such as Dark Blue, Trade Doubler or Share a Sale, i should also create 6 websites pertaining to each industry ie gaming, banking, porn etc.
I have also been told to offer a minimum of 40% first tier commissions and 20% 2nd tier.
I will be looking at charging ?9.99 or $19.99
The market potential is massive but i want to hit it running not crawling as it will be copied.

There is nothing at all like this out there, i have searched for days.

So what do you guys think?

Kind regards
steve

hi Steve,

Welcome to 5 Star.

Sorry, but I'm pretty confused by your post. So here are some random thoughts.

You're new to Internet marketing, but even if you were a pro - when you launch a new site and ESPECIALLY if it's a new product - IMHO you should not even be considering an affiliate program yet. You need to do extensive PPC and conversion testing before you start an affiliate program. You seem unsure of the price point even and need to figure out what price will convert and be sure you can get good conversion rates or tweak and test until you do.

I understand your rush to get this to market but affiliates can't sell if the site can't convert or the price point is wrong and you can't use affiliates as guinea pigs 1st because it's not fair to them, 2nd because it takes too long to build a strong affiliate program to get enough traffic to do your testing. PPC is the fasted way to do that.

Then the rest of your post is where I get confused. Part of the time it seems like you are talking about becoming an affiliate and part of the time becoming a merchant and it seems to jump back and forth.

Not sure why your friend would suggest 6 sites in each category if you are becoming a merchant as is suggest when you are talking about what commission to offer. Even if you were an affiliate I would not suggest 6 sites in each category.

Lastly "There is nothing at all like this out there, i have searched for days."

There are lots of programs like this out there. Maybe this one has some unique element or does something differently. But one of the reasons PPC testing is important is you will still be competing with the same main keyword with all the other established products that are out there in this space. So you need to figure out in your marketing how to differentiate your product.

May sound negative cuz I'm rushed. Not trying to discourage you, just trying to give you some realistic things to consider, since you are new at this.

Thanks Linda

Hi there Linda
I think i need to explain myself a bit
first of all i would only have 1 website per niche market not 6 per market
I have a price in mind to test the product and this price is at the very bottom end of (Similar Products) IE €19.99 or ?9.99 the similar products range from $30.00 to $160.00 however these products do not do what our product will do at all.
I take your point about using PPC and i fully intend to do that as well as use Ebay as a testing station.
As i said I am new to this and just a learner/beginner and i would never use you guys... as i do know the basics of business as i have been in business myself for 33 years as a plastering contractor.

I hope this has cleared any misunderstandings up Linda

Kind regards
Steve xx

Hi Staeve,

Thanks for clarifying. I did see the price points you mentioned. My point was simply that you need to do PPC to test those price points and come up with the magic number before launching an affiliate program. Glad to hear you plan to do that 1st.
