Hi All,
My name is Richard. And I am a newb. Just wanted to introduce myself.

I first got my feet wet in the Affiliate marketing world a couple of years ago. I worked as a Credit Agent for the local hydro electric company. The pay is great but I felt like such a drone. After reading up on successful affiliates living out in Vietnam and Thailand, I thought to myself, that's the life I want to live. I myself am Vietnamese and have been to Vietnam over a dozen times and would love to live out there!

So I got started with CJ.com account where I tried promoting Payday loans. My approach was completely rudimentary (still is). I was working at it for a month, whenever I had spare time and saw no results. I had given up. A couple of months later though, I logged in to my cj.com account to see if I can try promoting something else, and lo and behold, I had a $60 commission!

I was like, "holy fucking shit!". Now, if I can just put more time and effort to scale this up, this could really become something! Well, I was wrong. Basically, what I had done was post on Craiglist re: "Need a payday loan?". And of course, as you know, that shit doesn't fly with Craigslist. All my listings were removed and I was back to square one.

A year later, I tried doing drop shipping for Weed Vaporizers. Created my own store from scratch, even designed my own logo. Again, a couple of months later, I had my first sale! Spent $0 on ads. Just posted in forums and Q&A boards re people wanting to buy vaporizers. Turns out though, payment processors don't want to be associated with Marijuana etc. so my first sale turned into no sale. I later found a company that would process my payments but I couldn't get anymore sales! I used google adwords and was just bleeding money! After another 5months, i was forced to close shop.

Fast forward to the present, I'm 30, still working that same full time job to pay the bills, got a wife who is from Vietnam, and we both agree, we like living in Vietnam better. If only we could find a way to earn money. So here I am. After a lot of googling on how to be a successful affiliate marketer, it's brought me to this forum.

I'm back on Cj.com. I'm trying to promote Interserver.net VPS Webhosting. What I've done so far is bid on Google Ads using keywords in Vietnamese because I understand that those keywords are significantly cheaper than their English counterparts. Basically trying to cater to Vietnam. But so far, no sales. I'm doing something wrong without a doubt but I have no clue what it is. Perhaps it's the fact that not many people in Vietnam have credit cards. Also perhaps because the Interserver landing page is in English. Your thoughts?

Does anyone have a experience promoting Cj.com? Can someone shed some light on what I need to do here?

Thank you, for reading.

Best Regards!

Sorry, I just realized there is an introduction thread, I will move this over there, if mods could please delete, thanks

Is the merchant you promoting are having sales in your target area?

I think, you have to find a merchant program that fits on your target market.

Hey, thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if my merchant is having sales in Vietnam but they do in China (I ran a SimilarWeb.com search to discover this) but I don't see any Chinese landing pages by Interserver. But you're probably right.

Obviously, people in Vietnam need webhosting too. I guess I need to find a different merchant that best suits the situation.

No worries @Konoha.

I suggest to use the Advanced Search tool of CJ to see what stores who have getting traffic and/or sales in your target area. Also, You can contact the Affiliate Manager for clarification. I'm sure they are always ready to help you.
