One of our members just made such a great post that it inspired me to start a Hall of Fame where we can highlight some of the best forum posts and words of wisdom from our members.

Hall of Fame selections can only be posted by the administrators. But your opinions count and we'd love to hear them!

You can participate by nominating posts that you feel are especially insightful, helpful or well written.

Please don't nominate your own posts.

Send your nomination by private message to djbaxter.

Please include the thread title, name of the member and a portion of the post that gives an idea about the topic and then link to the specific post in that thread. (Use the permalink.)

Aff-base on assumptions? How to Start - when to Quit Day Job

James Martell (Super Affiliate, Acclaimed Guru, Author)

"Having one site is another strategy, and also a viable one at that, because it allows the site owner to focus all of the efforts on the one site. This is ideal for those who have limited resources and allow them to do things such as:

Unfortunately for many multiple site owners this is not the case and find themselves struggling to keep up and find themselves overwhelmed..."

If You HAD to Star Over - What would you do Different???

Member - Justin Harrison

The top 20 odd things I would do differently, if I had to start over again.

"1. Buy into fewer “How To courses” – rather than relying on impulse and being lured in by overstated sales copies I would spend less time reading and more time doing.

2. Never outsource the development of my site.

3. Start a double opt in list from the get go."

He gives a list of 27

Encouragement

Member - John Guanzon

"Alot of the frustration comes from simply not knowing how to properly use the tools that you have at hand to reach their full value. Try as you may, it could very well seem as if nothing you are trying is working. You may say I know I tried everything, but have you taken the time to truly research if and why it's not working?"

<a href="http://affiliate-marketing-forums.5staraffiliateprograms.com/members/fitnfree.html">fitnfree</a>, one of the winners of our MVP (Most Valuable Poster) Award
just made another great post that MUST BE listed in the Hall of Fame!

She quoted Larwee for saying:

We love newbies and we will help you. All of us were newbies at one time. That is something that none of us should ever forget.
Then FitnFree wrote:

"Bingo! Never, ever forgetting what it's like to be a newbie in this field is what drives me to help others. I am so supportive of those striking out in this field on their own because it can work and it's a great way to independence. Takes a lot of work, but if you're willing to invest the time, you will reap great rewards.

And, if you want this badly enough, never, ever quit. So many people quit just when they're about to start success. I've seen that happen so many times. It does take time, persistence and constant learning and keeping up with the latest trends, but it's exciting and rewarding when it all starts to pull together and work for you."

Several REALLY great replies in this thread:
selfemployed webmasters, what if your mom says go get a "real" job?

Here are a couple recent comments worth noting...

"I never invested the same hours working in an office and also never accomplished more. There is something about the determination, it is like you just know it is entirely up to you to be successful."

"Even my mom told me I was wasting my time when I got out of college working on affiliate marketing. Now I'm 25 and could retire while my friends are beating their brains in at work. Stick it out, work hard, and be creative. I always found negative words to me were the best motivation I could get because you want to prove them wrong."

More great ones in that thread too. Check it out!

Thanks guys!

Thread - Duplicate Content: It's Not What You Think!

"I have been seeing in a lot of threads the misunderstanding of duplicate content. I am writing this to eliminate the misunderstanding so that fear of something does not effect your online marketing.

I guess the first thing is to cover the assumptions of the masses of what it is, and then show you the reality of it."

Thread - How to Profile your Visitors and Profit

"The visitor profile makes it much easier for you to craft the content (text, images, audio, video, etc.) because you will know exactly who you are writing to, what problem they are attempting to solve and their state of mind...which allows you to better serve their needs, which leads to an increased conversion on both sales and newsletter subscriptions."
