I've heard good things about xheader and gimp as well, although I haven't used them myself, if you want to make your own but don't have Photoshop.

Yeah I picked up GFX writer and Gimp. I am trying to find which one is more to my liking. I am not an IT guy I hang around training so I need to put to use a new skill. Thank you for your help

I found one for a niche that I am in by simply doing a google search for niche + header and niche + banner. It was a niche with a lot of artists in it already, so it was a bit easier... but It cannot hurt to look towards that path.
