eMoms Legacy Theme help

Hi there
I have the eMoms legacy theme, but I want to embed video into the sidebar. Its easy to do when publishing a post on a page, but I am stuck on how to add it to the sidebar.

Heres an example of what I mean.

Hi jpb1958,

Do you know how to edit a theme in Wordpress? That's what you need to do. Based on which version of WP you have you would find the edit theme link or button and then you need to find the sidebar template where you want to insert the video. You'll be editing the raw code to get the video in the right spot. BE CAREFUL! Copy and save the current sidebar code before you change anything in case you mess it up which is easy to do. Been there...

Thanks for the reply.
To be honest, I expect to mess up somewhere but I really want to see how all this stuff goes together. How do I find the sidebar codes?
I have WP version 2.9.1

If I go to Appearences/Widgets I find the stuff I need.

I have installed a widget called Video Sidebar Widget. But will it work on this theme?....dunno

There are a number of boxes I need to fill in. Would someone be so kind as to look at the enclosed image of the WP widget page please because I don't know what I should type in some of the boxes. I'm afraid the image resolution isn't too good.

Also, can anyone recommend a good site/ book where I can swot up on this stuff, especially the eMoms theme?

Hi everyone
Well I managed to get the video into the blog but its squashed up condensed into sidebar 1.
In the first image I posted, it was spread over the top of both sidebars.

I think I need to move the sidebars down and place the Video Sidebar Widget on top. But how?

Do I need to create a sidebar that will go on top of them, so I have 3 sidebars?

I found the widget editors and noticed the codes (thanks for pointing this out Linda)

Oh by the way, in case anyone wants to know how I got the video on to the blog using Video Sidebar Widget, I just needed to paste the ID code.

So if your video is from youtube, the URL will be something like:

www*.youtube*.com/watch?v=Abcd123456

The ID Code is the bit...Acbd123456

Oh I never even though of widgets. I don't use them on the 5 Star blog and just edit the code directly. I've used widgets on another blog a long time ago but not video widgets.

But I'm not all that technical and have a WordPress whiz that's very reasonable and fast. I let him do any heavy lifting or even easy stuff that I'm afraid I may mess up. I have much more money than time so it's worth it to me to contract it out.

So I don't know enough personally to help you any further but if you want to pay someone a small fee to just help you do everything that needs tweaking and get it done right without dealing with it yourself let me know. Although it sounds like you may be enjoying learning how it all works.
