Article writing and distributing to online article directory(s) should always be in your traffic toolbox. It's a darn smart marketing, simple yet effective way of boosting the traffic to your website. Best of all, it helps you to generate the most important traffic there is: targeted traffic!

Here's a list i find very effective:

http://www.myarticlerepositories.com
http://www.placefreearticles.com
http://www.postarticles4free.com
http://www.repositorysubmission.com
http://www.myarticlecolumn.com

Search for article directories and submit your article to as many directories as possible.

I tend to be of the belief that articles do more to drive content to a site if they are actually on the site one is driving content to. If one wants to generate links to their site then they can create an RSS feed for their site that lists the "latest" articles on their site along with a short description. Then one can work on getting their RSS feed listed by the various feed directories. Lots of people are looking for simple content and look at adding a bunch of RSS feeds to their site as a way of generating cheap content.

So in the end keeping the article on one's own site and creating an RSS feed that provides a link to the article could actually generate more links to one's site than if the article were simply given to one of those free article sites.

Nice! I was looking for such types of websites. Moreover, I was looking for a site which would be more interested in articles about different countries, culture, religion and stuff like that as that's what my forum is about (India--> MyIndya.Com). It really needs a boost in traffic/posting.

Thanks!

One needs to strike a balance between RSS distribution and the existing article distribution services, some of which can pump your articles to tens of thousands of eager recipients.

RSS is becoming the premier distribution method but it's just not completely there yet...it will, when the mushrooming RSS applications knock off the much maligned email distribution model...

I do write articles occasionally and my article directory is very RSS ready; feeds which I promote very vigorously, but I still get more traffic from articles posted manually and willingly by blog & website owners.

The key to article marketing is "Quality" AND NOT "Quantity".

A bad article(s) will not bring you any "qualified traffic" no matter which method you use to distribute it.
