Buying Traffic Do you think we put too much emphasis on click volume?

Every Click Isn't Equal.png

One thing I've been thinking about lately is how reporting platforms count every click the same, while advertisers know they rarely are.

Some users bounce immediately. Some complete registrations. Some become repeat customers.

On paper, they're all one click.

Commercially, they can have completely different value.

That's why I think traffic quality is often a more useful conversation than traffic volume.

When evaluating a traffic source, what's the first signal that tells you those clicks are actually valuable?

I usually look beyond CTR or CPC pretty quickly. The first thing I want to see is whether the traffic actually progresses through the funnel—registration rate, activation, first purchase/deposit, or whatever the advertiser's primary conversion event is.

Another signal that's often overlooked is consistency. A source that produces stable conversion rates week after week is usually much more valuable than one that delivers occasional spikes but can't be scaled reliably. I'd also pay attention to engagement metrics like time on site, pages viewed, bounce rate, and whether users return. Those often tell you more about intent than the click itself.

For me, the biggest indicator of quality is what happens after the initial conversion. Do those users generate repeat purchases, additional deposits, subscriptions, or higher lifetime value? That's where the real difference between traffic sources becomes clear.

At the end of the day, the best traffic source isn't the one that delivers the most clicks—it's the one that consistently brings users who create long-term value for the advertiser
