Best Places to list to get traffic to web directory?

i have just started a new website directory and would like to get peoples opinion on where is best to get traffic for it.

the best way to start with is to join in some forums. if you have a facebook, twitter, multiply account that would also help promote your new site.

get lists from google on blog directories list your site there and traffic will come, also do a couple of articles that are unique and post them to ezine articles as wella s writing a squidoo lens, these all drive targeted traffic.
