Affiliate Social Network Launches

A new Social Network just hit the scene today for affiliate marketers and merchants who want to connect in more meaningful ways. The 1st affiliate social network I know of to launch was one my 5 Star Forum Moderator Stephen launched on My Space. I just tried the link and it looks like this group is no longer live. Then during the last Affiliate Summit in January, Richard Lewis launched the 1st dedicated stand-alone affiliate network, called ReturnOnAffiliate. I've recently started getting more active there and it's a great place to network.

The new social network that was launched today is for registrants of the Affiliate Summit. Shawn Collins decided to offer this as a place for Summit attendees to connect before, during and after the Affiliate Summit shows. Shawn reports over at the Affiliate Tip Blog:

Thanks a lot, Linda. Richard Lewis had a great idea with Return on Affiliate and I figured it would be useful to create a similar environment for attendees of Affiliate Summit.

In the past, lots of folks had no way to reach out to one another in advance of conference, so I wanted to enable them to get to know each other and schedule face to face meetings at Affiliate Summit.

Linda,

Shawn's Networking Sessions at Affiliate Summit were a great inspiration for
ReturnonAffiliate.com . I figured there should be a way for that kind of communication to take place all the time. I also saw the fact that not everyone (especially affiliates) are going to fly around the country to interact. I created the site in hopes of creating a stronger community for everyone. I am very pleased that Shawn is embracing social networking as the core of the next event. He has been a great support to ReturnonAffiliate.com and I am excited to see how this new system benefits attenders of Affiliate Summit East 2006. Thank you Lisa for being a great support of both ventures.

Hey Shawn,

Welcome to my forum. I thought you had posted here before, but looks like that was your 1st post. You are welcome. I blogged about it too. Always happy to spread the word about news and tools that can help our industry.

Hey Richard, tried to post at your forum yesterday but all the "froggies" attacked my post and it was too hard to edit so I just deleted. Shawn beware of froggy monsters in your new forums with that social networking software you are using.

Hi Linda,

I think that Social Networks are a great thing. It made me even write an Article about it :).

Hey Carsten,

Welcome to 5 Star. I remember seeing your picture at ReturnOnAffiliate.
Great to see you posting here and hope to see you here often! Thanks for sharing your article.

Hey Linda,

yep, I am now pretty active at RoA amd also help Richard out a bit to promote his site. I prefer it over a regular forum, although I still stop by ABW from time to time, not just because BevMo has their Affiliate Support Forum there, but to check what's going on. I think it is good to have something like RoA and explained the reason for it in my article.

I am not new to your site, I subscribed to your blog quite some ago, added my blogs to your directory and are an Affiliate of some of your programs. I just never made it to the forum until today  .

I will try to be here a bit more often in the future :D

Very cool! I knew from your other post you read my blog, but didn't know you knew about my blog directory or belong to any of our affiliate programs.

I'm sure you've noticed but we have support forums here for all 50+ of the 5 Star programs, so feel free to ask questions or start a new thread with program feedback on any programs you want to talk about.

Hope you also saw our $200 Posting Contest!

I will sure do. I usually tend to post more when I have Issues with something. I think this is a good thing then, that I did not post anything yet in the past, right?! hehe.

Cumbrowski :) (don't worry, I am used to it, but once you remember it, you will never forget it hehe).

Go ahead and have a look. One is business, the other private. Let me know what you think. Both Blogs are pretty new. Launched less than 2 months ago.

Hi Mike,

I just submit the ConsumerMatch.com Blog to your Site.

Btw. the "nofollow" submission still asks and checks for the Reciprocal Link URL. Well I added it to my private site and returned the favor and added "nofollow" to the URL :)
