YouTube advertising is a great way to create a steady stream of revenue. But in your initial days, the revenue you make out of ads may not amount to anything much.

Don’t lose heart if you are not squeezing enough juice through YouTube ads alone. There are many other ways to put your YouTube earnings on steroids, and amongst those many ways, YouTube affiliate marketing is the best option.

In affiliate marketing, you promote a product or service on your desired platforms like YouTube, blog, or social media channel – wherever you have built an online presence. And when you make a sale, you get a commission out of it, which is a predefined percentage of the actual amount of that product or service.

We have already discussed all of what affiliate marketing is and how you can become a successful affiliate marketer. So, we are going to skip all that and jump straight to how you can integrate affiliate marketing with your YouTube channel and unbolt the door to added revenue streams.

6 Ways to Generate Highest Affiliate Commissions on YouTube

At PureVPN affiliate marketing, we have YouTube influencers from different industries and niches: gamers, VPN reviewers, tech specialists, and cybersecurity experts, to name a few. Some of our YouTubers have as little as 100 subscribers on their channels, while there are many who have over a million subscribers that generate millions of views every month.

In this guide, we are going to show you how our YouTube influencers are generating the highest commissions on their content and how you too can get started.

1.Pre-Roll Integration

Pre-roll integration is a great way to promote your affiliate product without losing the interest of your viewers. Pre-roll marketing happens when you talk about the product at the start of your YouTube video.

Since viewers have just checked in and they are likely to engage further, it is best to integrate the product when it is highly likely that the viewer would watch all the way through without skipping the video.

Pre-roll ads are mostly 5, 15, or 20 seconds long – most even go longer than 30 seconds. Therefore, it is imperative that you make it attention-grabbing, encouraging viewers to check out the product. Don’t forget to add your affiliate link in your video description, and also mention the link included in the video as well.

2.After-Intro Integration

After-intro promo works akin to pre-roll product promotion. You usually start with the topic of your content, and after 10 to 15 seconds, you cut to the sponsored affiliate. It is up to you how long you want to keep the pitch while making sure that it doesn’t affect the average view time of your video.

Analytics and A/B testing are your best friends in understanding what works best in terms of timing and video length.

3.Mid-Roll Integration

Ooyala
reports that the mid-roll ads are slowly but surely taking over pre-roll ads with an amazing 90% completion rate. Unlike pre-roll integration, you pitch your affiliate products in the middle of the content in mid-roll ads.

You know the average view duration of your YouTube content. You use that YouTube Analytics data and determine the ideal interval where you can pitch your affiliate sponsor.

You can keep the duration of the pitch to as low as 15 seconds, or you can take it up to 1 to 2 minutes, especially if the offer is amazing.

Mid-roll videos can be a great addition to your marketing arsenal only when you do it properly. Make the ad engaging, offer value to your viewers, and mention exclusive discounts.

4.Post-Roll Integration

Promoting a product or service at the end of your YouTube content is called post-roll advertising. Post-roll advertising is less engaging than its counterparts: pre-roll and mid-roll. According to a report by AList, post-roll advertising has a 65% completion rate.

However, herein lies the opportunity. As a YouTube content creator, you should know by now that the average view duration rate of any video on YouTube is 70% to 80%. Logically, we can say that the remaining 20% that watches a video to the end may have a higher interest rate. It means that 20% is more likely to click your call-to-action than the rest of the viewers.

Just as any other affiliate marketing, keep the affiliate content sweet and concise. The sweet spot of a video length for post-roll marketing is 15 to 20 seconds. Do not forget to add the affiliate link to the description of your video as well as your comment, and pin that comment for increased exposure.

5.Product Comparison Review

Another way to earn commission on your YouTube videos is by giving product comparison reviews. However, it is ideal for channels that relate to the affiliate product that they are promoting. Take, for instance, the example video content above. ASBYT is a tech review and unboxing channel, and it relates to the VPN industry as a VPN offers internet security and privacy.

In the example video content, ASBYT gives an unbiased review not only on PureVPN but also its competitor services. Moreover, as you can notice in the description and pinned comment, the YouTube influencer mentions the affiliate links to the services so he can get a commission from the list of services when a user signs up for a paid subscription.

6.Exclusive Product Review

Exclusive product reviews are videos that talk only about your product, detailing its features, functionalities, and the overall user experience. Exclusive product reviews are for the highly targeted audience looking for reviews on particular products. Most of those audiences are near to the buying stage, which means there are high chances of them making a purchase and leaving more commission for you.

Great post, @Nizar Ali . I'm glad that you mentioned the 80/20 rule. That was true before the internet and apparently is still a universal constant. I think when people are just starting out, they feel discouraged when more of their viewers don't buy than do. Your breakdown of best times for sections, and tips about content can be a big help for video marketers.

Guess that there are plenty of ways how to boost YouTube affiliate marketing. The matter here is to do it with quality. I always look at the quality and the resukt of my work because everything was failed in case I have no result. It's the best strategy for everyone who fonds of affiloate marketing or toher activities actually. In my opinion, people always spend lots of time on searching for various ways to boost sales and increase conversions. And, what is more interesting, they spend much more time than they spend when they try to do something by their own. I suppose that it would be better to think about this topic by your own, without any help.

I think the more high-quality the content is, the more average view duration you have and more earrings you can boost. That is the root of all good results. This should seem intuitive, but longer videos tend to simply give viewers more time to get distracted and look away. In fact, it’s very common for videos to be down to 80% of viewers remaining in the first 15–20 seconds on longer videos, as people start…get bored…see a recommended cat video and then, well, who can compete with that?
The longer my video, the lower the percentage of watchers that make it to the end. My shorter ones that I uploaded at the very start, months ago…often have 90–95% retention rate. So, pay attention to the length of your videos: each separately and all together. There are a lot of tools for video calculating of Youtube playlist that can simplify you to get a revenue.
