My son and his friends have a site on shopify and it's worked out very well. Shopify is basically a made-for-you ecommerce solution. I think it took us maybe 3 hours to from start to finish to buy them a domain, get them set up, have their items uploaded, and make the site live. They make a...
I wish I could help you on this one, but my neighbors have gotten their clientele strictly through word of mouth. They say they plan on advertising & marketing once they get everything all settled, but right now, they really do have more work than they can handle -- they organized trips as well...
I use wordpress themes and pay for custom logos/header graphics as needed. There are so many talented people out there offering their services at decent price -- it's just too good to pass up -- especially if you're like me and have no graphic skills to speak of.
Update: The young lady who organized this babysitting service, is only 16 and so I met with her parents yesterday to discuss marketing their service on my sites. Long story short, it's a GO and I will be receive commission for every paid referral that I send.
This is something that I, personally, don't have the personality for, but convinced a neighbor to create one (instead of just a forum) for him & his wife because they are Mr & Mrs SCUBA around my area. They've been running it for about a year now, and they make a nice part-time income from it...
No worries -- content lockers require your visitor to perform an action before they can access your content. It can be as simple as clicking a "Like" or "Share" button, or Signing up for your newsletter, or even completing a survey. I'm sure you've seen them around -- they've been out there for...
Yeah, I agree w/StevenF50. The "best" CMS is the one that you work best with, and fits your needs when you need it to. :) I'm not a strong coder, so I need something that I doesn't give me heart palpitations when things fall apart. Joomla kept me up at night, so I had to find something else...
Make money quick -- Yes, I've paid for methods which worked very well. I've also bought some duds. :) Get rich quick--No. If it looked to good to be true, it was.
I keep seeing where social media companies are using Klout scores to weed out job applicants and potential clients. Is anybody here doing anything special to manage their Klout standings?
Everyday. But that's because it's pretty much automated. I post on my site once, and the others get populated by plugin. I don't do Facebook ads as often as I'd like - maybe once a week at the most.
I'm doing pretty well with my content locked sites, and my giveaways have been pretty successful on their own, but I'm thinking of bumping things up a notch. Have any of you tried combined a giveaway with a locker? Do you think that it'll be too much? What if I made the prize something more...
Wow! You've been lucky. I activate captcha/recaptcha plugins on day one. Combined with akismet, I make out pretty well -- provided I don't attract the attention of some Xrumer user. Then all bets are off and I'm fighting a lost battle :devilish:. I wouldn't remove the captcha. If your visitors...
Thesis used to be my go-to theme up until about a year and half ago. But they were too slow to adapt to responsive child themes. The new Thesis 2.0 is just too foreign to me and so I've migrated all of my sites away to new themes. Have things improved much since this introduction of boxes and...
I have a really good friend who insists on doing most things manually. I'm talking manual backups, manually site moves, manual updates. He's a much stronger webmaster than I am and the running joke between us is the old tortoise and the hare competition. I depend on automated processes because...
I have hopped around from Awebber to GetResponse to MailChimp and all of them have their high and low points. What are you currently using? And what do you like/dislike most about it?
I know this is a sensitive subject for some people, but as much as I used to hate popups (as a visitor) in the past, I love using them as a webmaster because they are effective. I am loving these newer popups that allow you to combine lightbox with embedded video. People are really responsive to...

I was referring to sites that we actually own. And yes, service sites provide a service (hairdressers, plumbers, seo, etc), while product sites sell tangible goods.
The only sites that I own that can possibly be considered both would be my lead-gen sites. Yes, I'm ultimately handing...
You're gonna have to be a little more specific with this one. Are you looking for free or paid? Are you looking for specialized (article submitters/forum submitters/bookmark submitters/etc) or all-in-one's? Do you have access to proxies? Do you have access to captcha solvers? Do you have access...
