I invest about $50 to get a site live. That's for domain, hosting, graphics, content, and a quick marketing push. After that, I probably spent another $20/mos for upkeep and marketing. The more I make from the site, the more I'll spend on the site.
No. I'm still in denial. If something happens to me, my family has printouts of my accounts, agreements, sites, passwords, etc. Knowing them, they'll sell everything just to get rid of it, and go on a shopping spree with the proceeds.
It really depends. I'll grab a domain from anywhere if they're having a sale and offering free privacy protection. Most of my domains are at Namecheap, though.
Traffic and income are the two bottom lines for me. Success and failure for any marketing campaign is measured by the increase in traffic & income -- the higher the better, of course. :). Anything over 10% is a win in my opinion.
One thing that I find really attractive about those premade ecommerce sites (like zazzle, cafepress, shopify, etc.) is that they handle the billing for you, and take care of security too. Shopping cart & payment processing integration is a pain in the neck.
^^THIS. Whenever I see "the crowd" running towards something, I head in the opposite direction and watch from a distanct. HYIP programs just didn't pass the sniff test as far as I was concerned. And I'd rather be safe than sorry.
I buy ads on forums quite a bit, so I'd say that, "yeah," webmasters are earning money with their forums just fine. :). And I agree with others who have said that the more visitors you get, the more earnings you can get.
It is between NoHandsSeo and Scrapebox. NohandsSeo isn't the best on the market, but it does what it is supposed to very well, and the developer keeps it updated and working without issue. I bought it during a sale and it was worth every cent. Scrapebox -- well, it's like a swiss army knife...
That's it exactly! My sites are effectively "slaves to the latest trends" -- even moreso than clothes in the fashion industry. :). You have an advantage in that you have "the eye" and can actually identify what "classic design" is. To me, it simply looks like just another trend that was popular...
Our neighborhood had a fundraiser and the HOA actually used a Square credit card reader to collect payments for raffletickets, baked goods, etc. I'd only seen it on TV -- it kind of surprised me. Anybody here using Square, or any of the other hand-held credit card readers? Do you use it for...
I don't see why not. I know that Etsy has enabled many people to create businesses using their site -- it kind of put me in the mind of eBay when people first started creating stores & selling their handmade items. And lots of people are still doing well with eBay. I guess it all depends on...
You HTML5 and CSS3 coders are really ahead of the curve right now, so you can probably answer this better than most. I primarily use wordpress for just about every site that I build and I'm not a strong coder by any means. I'm seeing HTML5 and CSS3 more and more in the themes that I use. Do you...
Hey, what are you guys using to process your credit card payments on your sites? I'm seriously considering another merchant account, but I had one in the past and it was a real hassle. These third party processors look really good -- like PaySimple -- they have some nice features, like automated...
I hate to admit this, but I don't have "an eye" for this sort of thing. Whatever seems to be most popular at the moment is what I want to use. Unfortunately, that means that I'm constantly having to get my stuff upgraded because the public changes its taste so frequently, and my sites look...
