I am certain that VAT will be put up to 19% or even 20% no matter who wins the election.
The reason that will happen is because the UK builds nothing, or makes nothing, so by putting VAT up they will hope that will stop buying in shops, so imports should fall.
Unless we start to produce things within the UK that we can export to Europe and USA we cannot go on importing 96% of everything we buy in shops in the UK, so yes I would like to ask you people on the forum if you will go along with this thinking? the one big snag I fear with this is shops that sell imported items will fail badly, jobs will be lost, it is a thing that goes with trying to alter the way we are going, as we are going bust.
