One Theme Many Merchants

Hi all, :)

I am in the process of building an affiliate website and want to
add a few merchants from the same affiliate network.

Each page on the website will have a different merchant with links
to their site. Each merchant will have a different product and each
product will be on the theme of the website.

Can it cause any issues to visitors if they notice that the
different webpages go to different sites.

Thanks,
Lester T.

Well the answer without knowing specifics is always... it depends how you do it,
but in general it should not pose a problem.

If like you said they are all related to the same overall theme it can
be good to offer a variety. Sometimes (not always) it can even be
good to have a few (not too many IMHO) options on the same page,
or links to a couple other product pages at the bottom of a page.

I think it can be good at times to offer people a choice,
show them on your site the top 3 sellers or 3 products
in the form of a good, better, best review approach,
but you need to test to make sure it helps not hurts conversion rates.

Hi Linda,

Thanks for your reply. :)

I wouldn't have links to more than one merchant on a
on a webpage. EX. Lets say I am selling widgets.
One page would be on red widgets with links to one merchant .

I would then have another web page on blue widgets with
links pointing to totally different merchant etc.

The two merchants with their links wouldn't be on the same web page.

If I understand you correctly,

Basically what you are describing is Affil Mrktng, on my sites I have links to many different merchants, via RSS, banners, relevant text links within content etc... many affiliate websites have a variety of merchants that they link to.

I often offer several choices (from different merchants) within the content, and as Linda says many sites are review/compare types where you offer good, better and best choices, this method seems to work for conversion because people like to have lots of info and choices. This method lends credibility and is less saleasy.

BTW- As far as sales and conversions go, it is always best to have relevant and quality content, not just links to products your selling.
