I'm newbie at mobile marketing

Hi guys, I'm new to mobile ads. I'm using BeMob as my third-party tracker. I'm using PropellerAds as my traffic source.

I haven't started any campaigns yet.

Sorry if this is a silly question, but what exactly am I looking for with my tracker?

Let's say I spend $200 on push ads, what metrics should I be looking at?

There are a couple of dozen, or more, metrics we can track. initially there are seven or eight you must track. The more experienced you are the more important additional metrics tracking becomes.

• CTR
• CPM (cost-per-thousand clicks)
• CPC (cost-per-click)
• Total unique visitors
• Bounce rate
• Page views
• Conversions

There are more, but this gets you started understanding how your tracker works.

I believe BeMob has some pretty nice tutorials.

Once you get your tracker set up, we can help you with the variables and such as well as reading and interpreting the data.

Get to know and love your tracker. It will be one of the most important tools you use for this business. You may need to try a few of them until you find the one you are most comfortable with.

First thing I look at is what the traffic networks say they send and what is actually 'delivered'
Then I filter the traffic by browser version and test for JavaScript (but that is not that accurate because of Chrome Headless and Selenium [click-bots]) if they don't mask (read:forge their user-agent) I exclude them also.

Advanced: The rationale behind all of this is to try to ensure that my metrics to follow are ad hits from real people --otherwise I am counting ghosts that will never buy.

A lot of mobile traffic is error clicks so the dwell time (time on site/bounce rate) is important too so use a landing page and measure that metric. Doesn't have to be long and 'content-rich' just have enough text to take 10-15 seconds to read and a button to click with the page landing time and the time of the button click logged as events.

This all depends on what offers, funnels, traffic, etc. are being employed.

CTR is only an indicator that is true if the traffic is real and not in error. If you have fat fingers and click, instead of swipe to scroll, then that CTR metric is very deceiving. It's only relative between different scenarios of traffic and creatives as a comparison.

Thanks for the reply guys. I have a quick question about SSL certificates for a mobile html page.

My mobile page looks completely different when I compare the https version to the http version. It's on a subdomain. The SSL is enabled for the subdomain in the control panel backend.

Why would the https version of my page look different from the http version? How can I change that?

You have the old http version cached in Chrome mobile probably.
Settings -> ... security ->clear ... probably need to do all checked then fix grr

I tried that thanks Graybeard. Still no luck.

The https version still doesn't look anything like the http version. When I change the html of the landing page and upload it via ftp, both versions (http and https) change accordingly. But the CSS looks completely different. Colors are missing, buttons look different etc.

The css should in theory be the same for both the http and https versions. There's only one css file.

Very strange.

This is a problem because I've read that Chrome doesn't like http anymore. If I'm running popunders and I'm using http instead of https, the popunder may not even showup in the Chrome browser to site visitors.

I got it figured out. The script src address code in the index.php file pointed to a http:// address not a https:// address

That's why the https version looked different from the http version.

I'm sure why it was done like that to be honest. I'm using the default html code from jQuery Mobile ThemeRoller. Perhaps their stuff is old and wasn't updated when ssl became more important?

The https version still doesn't look anything like the http version.

Possibly the Chrome & Google updates of last year.

According to our developer here, the answer is very simple, but may require a bit of work to resolve. Nothing too tough, but maybe a little time consuming depending on your level of skills.

Chrome 81 updates of last year had Google completely remove support for the legacy TLS protocol, which will block all non-secure content by default. In other words, content on your site that is not loading via HTTPS will not load at all, and your site visitors will not see this content.

Some of your content is secure and some is not and this makes the two sites appear different from one another.

If you want to make sure all your site’s content is loading over a secure connection and site visitors see it all, you will need to identify what mixed or insecure content exists on the site.

Mixed content occurs when HTML on a website loads over a secure HTTPS connection (thanks to a recently installed SSL certificate) but other content, such as images, video content, stylesheets, and scripts, continue to load over an insecure HTTP connection. This results in some web content loading securely and some web content loading insecurely. This is why it is called “mixed content.”

Search for "resolving mixed content issues" and you will see loads of options for correcting the issue you have.

Try another browser and device.
http and https will render the same visual.
The only difference is that encryption is used.
one thing --read your http source!
'looks different?" --if the css is not loading it's not a relative URI = "../css/style.css" it may be that you used ="http://example.com/css/style.css"

Hi guys, I need your help again. I launched a push ad campaign with Propeller Ads. I'm advertising an email submit CPA restaurant offer. When someone clicks on m my push ad, it goes to a landing page, then to the merchant's offer page.

My ad got rejected due to the following reason:

"You cannot use marketing material (images, banners, pages or texts) that are copyrighted by third parties, including using celebrity's other personal attributes without permission for an exploitative purpose violation of rules on icon. Check our policy guidelines and moderation rules."

Propeller Ads said my icon image was the problem.

My ad is a poll that said "Coke or Pepsi?"

My push had had an icon image of the Coke and Pepsi logos.

Can you please suggest something to put in the icon area that won't get my ad rejected?

The offer is a restaurant CPA email submit. Should I put food in the icon image instead? Or maybe a a pic of a person?

Most likely the offer had notes about the limitations regarding promoting with brand and logos.

Use generic non-branded images for sure!

So what Cola? is better. Cola is a generic word.

I was wondering about this. Propeller Ads says trademarked words are not allowed in the ads either. Would I not be able to say in the ad description: "Only 4 FREE Subway gift cards left!" Or is that not allowed? If not, maybe something like "Only 4 FREE restaurant gift cards left!"

See how anal they are --seems to me that you have non-exclusive license to use 'Subway' for the Subway offer?

Yet interestingly, they allowed the word PlayStation 5 in my ad , which is also trademarked. I guess they don't like names or logos of corporations, but products are ok.

one thing to keep in mind is when running offers from networks, they always have limitations for promoting an offer on the offer page. Most restrict branding, but there are some that do not. Check the source of your offers to see what restrictions may be present.

Hi guys, I need your help again. I'm running a new in-page push ad campaign with Propeller Ads. I'm sending the traffic to a landing page. My BeMob tracker is all set up. I'm advertising a sweepstake CPA offer. My daily budget is $15.

I sent my CPC to 10 cents even though the recommended bid is around 3 cents for the USA.

The campaign has been live for 2 days and I'm only getting a trickle of traffic. I've only got 9 impressions, 1 click.

What's wrong? Is my daily budget too low? I thought that by bidding higher than the suggested bid traffic would be flooding in.

Any help would be appreciated.

• What type of funnel are you using?
  • display ad to landing page to conversion page?
• did you do any intelligence research to see what creatives and landers are working right now?
• have you determined how to restrict traffic with your traffic source?
