I think avatar or real picture is fine, depends on how you feel, or even avatar interchanged with a real picture now and again.

I don't that picture often hence don't have a suitable one to use as avatar, will find a pic to upload soon.

Over years of posting I usually have an image of people in my mind which real picture or avatar never change, despite seeing your real picture, it somehow does not change the metal picture of you I had in my head
