How does Facebook charge for website conversion ads?

When you run a website conversion ad on Facebook will I only get charged when that certain action occurs? For example I set my conversion pixel to fire when someone makes a purchase. Will I only get charged when someone makes a purchase or will I also get charged for the clicks and impressions?

Is your FB ad in a PPC campaign? If so, then you get charged every time someone clicks your ad, regardless of whether or not they do anything after that.

No it's in a website conversion campaign but I still get charged for impressions

Sheesh. Sounds like "Website Conversion Campaign" is a misleading title, if you're paying for impressions.
