How do I get involved in affiliate product selling?

I really want to learn how do I start selling affiliate products as I know several people who are making a lot of money from this alone. However I don't have much luck with selling affiliate products (I've been involved in selling Amazon Associates products for some time) so I think I should relearn everything and start from the beginning. So tell me where do I begin?

if you 'know' several people making a lot of money, then ask them would be my first tip

there are a few ways you can go down this route, one risks time, the other money, but they BOTH rely on the king of web marketinf... Keyword research! learn keyword research, learn how to evaluate keywords for PPC & natural listings and you will be well on your way to making money.

The first way is to research, and build sites (pages) around sub niches that are not too competitive, then wait for traffic.

The second way is to do the same, but this time use PPC to drive the traffic through. To do this you need to ensure you are not bidding more than you are making. this is imple enough though especially with the way google have improved their bid control features.

if you make $10 per sale, and your conversion rate is 1:100 , then if you pay $0.10 per click, then you break even. Pay $.08 and you make $2 per sale. get it down to $.02 and you are making $8 per sale.

Simple as that... oh... hang on...

pay $.11 and you LOSE $1 per sale.. and there is the risk.

The best way to get your bid down is to research properly, then test your pages 50/50 until your conversion rate is as good as it gets (or until the effort to reward from changes is not worth it). This is the law of deminishing returns.

BTW - i kind of bumped into a affiliate marketing blog while a "Net Neonate"!

It is called cashtactics dot net & is run by a chap called Ruckles. I used to read it regularly while a neonate - but since it is not for me - I have moved on.

He also runs a forum on his site - you can try it!

I am still an "Net Infant" - so don't know of any better affiliate marketing sites.

What OWG has said above is a brief about affiliate marketing - as you get more experienced and learn more - you will realize there is more to it than meets the eye!

I'd say build a website you'd enjoy bulding first - hobbies, online business you've always wanted to do - and then if you get enough traffic then I'd say step intot he affiliate arena

Some things work better than others and some types of products such as ebooks via clickbank will be better suited to a site than maybe actual goods from say commission junction.

Try a range of different programs and see what works for you.

There is excellent money in web hosting affiliate but its quite difficult to rank highly for it, unless you already have a well ranked hosting related site.

Better than affiliate-keep 100% !

I have tried affiliate selling with no big success.
Now I start making some money (not a fortune) from my own e-book
store. It cost me 10$ /month, but when I find two refferalls,
it cost me nothing. Best affiliate programs pays you 75%.
Here you sell e-books and software and keep 100% !
I don't have to pay hosting and they do the entire job:
Hosting, delivery, collecting money, etc.
I don't have to pay over 100 sales sites, from
which I can sale every product individually!
I can do marketing campaign for only one, or ten products
if I like!
And you can download all 100+ products for your
private use, and read them and learn so much about "make money
on net".
This really helps me, and I believe it will be good for every starter!
