Hi All

I am an operational newbie , who has earnt nothing from the internet but has not actually put any systems into operation. I have a hard drive full of WSO's and other money making schemes that have never been implemented. I have been hanging around a couple of forums, mainly warrior forum for the last couple of years in anticipation of retiring and needing a source of income to add to the pension and my wife's super. Lo and behold, feeling a bit crook 3 years ago I am diagnosed with Muliple Myeloma, a bone marrow cancer I have never heard of before which is going to bugger up my retirement plans bigtime.
I want to put into place something that will give me a reasonable recurring income that I can pass onto my family that will not be too hard to manage when I am no longer able to personally direct its operation.
This may be an unattainable dream but I would like to give it a go and if anyone out there is prepared to assist or point me in the right direction I would be grateful.
My major obstacle is I know nobody who has a clue about the IM world and really neither do I. I can talk the talk but when it gets to the tech details I get totally lost. I need a mentor or a group that can help me head in the right direction.
I have never actuallyasked for help but I am now in a position that I really need it.
Thanks, Paul

hey,

and welcome to the fix :)

you will find a great deal of information on here that will help you get started, I'm sure some of the guys will be online soon to drop you links to their favorite resources here on the fix.

The best advice I can give you is, find what niche you want to work in, do a little research and jump in with both feet.

I will tell you something now, that took me longer than I care to admit. This whole industry is extremely data driven, so even when your first campaign is not going well, your losing money (and you will, it's inevitable, after all you will have no data, and no idea what you are really doing, a helping hand only gets you so far), just remember at this point you are buying the data you need to make the offer convert. Getting that data is what is important in the first stage, once you have it you can look for patterns in user behavior, you'll find out what makes that market tick, the more data you have to do this the more you can pin point that target market and effectively market you product to them and from their continue to scale

General advise around here is to start with 1 niche/(vertical) and 1 traffic source until you have a grasp on the basics and the day to day work involved.

hope it helps a little :)

Hi @surfingwhale and welcome to the AffiliateFix! It's great you have joined us.

Oh, how we all have heard this story before and most of were there once or twice.

I have been hanging around a couple of forums, mainly warrior forum for the last couple of years in anticipation of retiring and needing a source of income to add to the pension

Yeah, the last step to everything is taking action and yet it still is the number one cause for not finding ones success with all of this.

Perhaps this will help you get some answers and develop a plan for your beginnings:

Perseverance, dedication, and taking action are the cornerstones of the success you will obtain.

As a Newbie, you need to read, study, invest, and implement.

Read
Read through the various areas of the forum to learn about the types of marketing available for your new business. Make a list of all the types of marketing and take some notes along the way. Then determine which area of marketing with which you will start your journey.

Do this to select an area of marketing to start, as well, do this to select a tracker, a traffic source, and to select a vertical.

Then read up on the affiliate networks and select two to begin with that will serve your needs and the types of offers you would like to promote. Put your application in and they will call you for an interview. Be professional and be prepared to answer some questions about how you will promote offers, do you have a website, are you a Newbie, etc. Please note, if you join the Dojo, we have a thread there that can offer assistance in getting accepted to some of the networks.

Study
Now that you have selected a basis to begin, read all of the threads in this forum that relate to your initial selections so that you have a rudimentary understanding of their features and benefits.

Invest
You will require some investment. A VPS server, domains, traffic, landing pages, etc. You will need a budget for daily, weekly, and monthly expenses. This will change over time and you will need to update it often so that you know exactly what your costs and earnings are.

Implement
This is where it all starts to earn. You must now begin to implement what you have established as your foundation for your business.

Here is some advice and guidance that will help you establish your initial goals:

Make sure you complete the following first.

Every business needs:

1. a plan
2. a schedule for research, learning, and execution
3. a budget.

Remember to read through our WIKI and get to know the basics as well as some of the buzz words in the industry.

I also recommend reading the following thread:

As a Newbie, What Stops You From Getting Started

Here is a set of immediate goals:

1. Get a VPS
2. Select a vertical
3. Select a tracker
4. Select a couple of networks and get your approval
5. Select a traffic source
6. Create a schedule for researching, learning (training), and working. This is a business, treat it as such!
7. Create a budget for every expense (daily, weekly, monthly)
8. Be very active in this forum by researching, asking questions, helping others when you are able.

As well, I highly recommend you join the DOJO as it is full of great tools and contributions for and from successful marketers. Click the banner below to learn more.
