I might start first by being straight to the point, if you started affiliate marketing or internet marketing and you expected to make a thousand dollars on your first day, first of all dude you are in the wrong place. Affiliate marketing is not a a normal venture, you just have to work smart and do your part, over here things just don't happen, you make them happen.
I personally am a first hand witness to this, when i joined the whole affiliate marketing sharade, i thought that i was going to become filthy rich within a month, i don't mean to say that if i can't you can't also. we all have different learning pace may be it might be your day keep trying you might just get it. What i am trying to say is that many new people to affiliate marketing are to absorbed by the thought of making money, the forget, that you really need to work and take some risks in this business, truth is its just like any other business. My advice to you is to work and be committed to what it, this is a very rewarding career, the avenues for you to make money are endless, so don't worry none is going to beat you to it, focus on learning more, get to know more implement, commit to what you are doing build a passion. and i assure you that million bucks you have always dreaming of will come true.
I had to learn this later in my career, and its working. I don't have to worry about any late bills.

those are very wise words. There is so much to learn, how could anyone think that would be possible.

I am just so entrenched in all that there is to learn, but I have never found myself so dedicated to make something work. And everyone that is making any kind of income is just inspiring me to move foward.

Good luck to you & Happy Holidays!!

Focus and commitment are definately two keys to success in internet marketing. My advice is to try and specialise in one particular method rather than trying to 'do everything'. It is very easy to get distracted in this business so focussing is the key.

Great post! I've lost count of how many people I've seen over the years who think the net is the place to make a killing over night. They try it for a very short time, get discouraged and go back to the J.O.B.

Few people seem to have the real commitment.

Want to start right. .

Hi all,
Even though I am very new at this and ready to make my first foray into affiliate marketing I feel kinda lost with all the lingo. I haven't started a site as of yet but pretty sure that I know what to make my site around. Any advice on niche research would be helpful or just beginners tips. I am reading through past threads and getting some great info. Sorting it out is a little daunting but I am determined! lol Thanks for all your great posts and I am looking for to interacting with ya'll more.:D

go look at clickbank and commission junction - they have lots of ideas about what is selling on the internet.

Staying focused is very difficult to do, there are so many ways and everyone has the best idea.

I disagree with part of this.

Your ability to make money out of the gate in this business depends on your skills, the niche you select, and your ability to capitalize on all of that.

I have witnessed countless people flop...but I have also witnessed more than a few make thousands right out of the gate, within their first week in the business.

It's possible.

not unless you have a lot of money to throw in. Those people get off to a very quick start. If you are trying to build using minimal financial resources, that is a slow and steady process which needs to nurtured, and brought along with hard work and patience.

I don't subscribe to that mindset either. Money certainly speeds up the process, sure, as long as it's properly invested in the business...but money can also slow down the business building process if put in the wrong spots.

Making money online as an affiliate does not have to be a slow process, but you do have to possess the skills to make it happen quickly.

I would suggest reading a copy of Dan Kennedy's book... "No B.S. Wealth Attraction For Entrepreneurs" for more on this.

I've been wanting to do something on the Internet for years know but simply didn't know how to go about it. I also didn't want to draw much money from the family pool either. That is probably the biggest reason I didn't start earlier. Thought it would cost much more than it really does. I've since learned that you can do just about everything in your affiliate business for nearly zero cost but you must put the time into it. I was also lucky enough to stumble upon a good mentor, who I now esteem as a good friend, to guide me through the very beginning of the learning curve. I'll bet his guidance has shaved more than a year or two off my learning curve. I still have a long ways to go but push on I will :)
