Different in doing SEO to promote a site in Yahoo and Google?

Newbie in Seo wonders if is there any different in doing SEO to promote a site in Yahoo and Google? What are they? How should we do? Please help!

Generally speaking the process is the same, focus on Google and let Yahoo/Bing and others work themselves out since Google has at least 2/3rds of all SE traffic. That being said, Yahoo tends to put more focus on on page factors and other things more out of your control (domain age as an example).

i dont see any direct or major difference of them, if you do some back-linking, i think that will be enough for both

No, there no different work you have to perform SEO to get good results in yahoo or google you have to perform the same task and the result will be good in both the search engine.
