Day to Day Management of joomla 2.5

I have recently installed joomla 2.5 and am very happy with it.

In it there is a feature called 'Find Updates'

When I click on this option I get the following error message. 'The PHP allow_url_fopen setting is disabled. This setting must be enabled for the updater to work'

would somebody mind explaining how the updating works for joomla 2.5

Do I need to be concerned about getting updates ?

I know that joomla 3 will be released soon.

When I want to install joomla 3, will it be a case of being able update through the cms, or will joomla 3 have to be installed as a clean installation ?

You choose Joomla so you choose bugs and frustration. This is very bad script. However nobody create professional CMS system for free or application to create such CMS systems yet. I mean really hi-end stuff. And this is really sad because we have no choice but to use Joomla, Wordpress, Drupal. We can also create professional dedicated CMS by own or pay someone for it. It's pay off because major clients dont wanna here about open source crap, but it also cost a lot Money and time.
