YouTube will stop showing recommendations to those who have disabled their watch history.

Only the search bar will remain on the main page.

YouTube has announced that it will allow users to hide recommendations on the platform. This can be done by disabling the saving of watch history in the account settings.
The service explained that if a user turns off this option and does not have a "significant previous watch history," they will not see the recommendations feed. The main page will only feature the search bar and the sidebar.

Representatives from YouTube stated that they began implementing these changes on August 8, 2023. The changes will be rolled out to all users over the course of several months. The company clarified that this option is aimed at those who prefer to search for videos rather than view recommendations.

Some users have already noticed the changes. One of them posted a screenshot showing the message "Your watch history is turned off" instead of recommended videos on the main page.
