I began with bodybuilding years ago and soon refocused my energies to powerlifting. Everyone has their likes, ulltimately power was mine (never made it to the big stage, competed in a state competition once, took third in my class). What I found to be the best approach is to decide what you want, research many routines, then develop what works best for you. It's rare that anyone else's routine will be a perfect fit for you. It's conceivable that you can spend hours on one muscle group, develop a like for it and fail to dedicate equal time to the rest of the body. Also, to be competitive, it's not cheap. Start an allotment to the local health food retailer. Happy hunting.
