Why am I seeing discrepancies between PPC clicks and hops on ClickBank?

I have a PPC campaign running on MSN AdCenter for the last few weeks.

I just noticed that the number of clicks MSN AdCenter records (and, thus I'm paying for) for a typical day is typically higher than the number of "hops" (that's what ClickBank calls recorded page views). Sometimes it's only a few, but other times it's more than half.

Is there an obvious thing that's going on here that I might be doing wrong or not thinking about?

There are many factors which can lead to a discrepancy in the stats provided by your PPC provider versus those tallied in your ClickBank account. If possible, contact both and find out what each considers to be a "click". Clickbank may have a minimum time on site requirement, or may only count a "hop" if the visitor clicks a certain number of times.

Best of luck,

Are you using a redirect link in your ads?

Or are you using a naked affiliate link?

If you're using a tracking/redirect link, some users may find that the page takes too long to redirect and click the Back button.

And, yeah, contact both parties about the discrepancies.

Discrepancies will happen, it's just a matter of how much it is.
