i use name.com. i own more than 40 domains with them and never had any issues whatsoever. but you should try expired domains from abobe.com marketplace. i bought a few domains myself from there.

I have been using godaddy for couple of years and no problems yet.
Most big registrars won't have security issues. Godaddy, namecheap, name, domain.com to name some.
So, when choosing between them you could use prices as a criteria.
You said you also wanted hosting but you did not mention what you are going to host. Hosting providers will vary in quality depending on the application you want to host on them. Will you deploy a .net project or a php project etc? Do you need a vps or shared hosting? Will you just deploy a WP project and want to use a managed host? You need to clarify that part.
