Google sandbox generally refers to a commonly held belief that Google has a filter that places all fresh websites under restrictions for a certain amount of time to prevent them from ranking in searches.

Commonly held belief, but is there any proof? I'm curious about the facts from which this belief started, cause otherwise it's just gossip
