What are the segments in Google analytics and how to use them?

Segments in google analytics, are basically a sub-set of your users based on some particular parameters or conditions.

Some segments include:

• Demographics: Users by demographic info
• Technology: Users by their web and mobile technologies.
• Date of First Session: User by when they first visited.
• Traffic Sources: Users by the source
• and some others

Advanced segments include:

• Conditions: Include or Exclude users based on some condition
• Sequence: Include or Exclude users based on sequential conditions

and how to use them?

In google analytics, you can look for "+ Add Segment" button to create a segment and under "View Segments", you’ll find:

• All: all the segments
• System: Pre-built segments from Google Analytics.
• Custom: Segments you’ve built yourself.
• Selected: Segments that are currently active.
• and some others
