Hello everyone,

Does anyone understand the legalese of using images/icons on a website your building that indicates it comes with a GNU (newer or older version) license? as it applies to use on a website one might sell?

The other reference by these icon image creators, may not reference a GNU license, but may instead include specific directives which say;

"Free for commercial use (Do not redistribute)"
or
"This product may be used free of charge for personal or commercial purposes."
or
"You may not modify, sell or distribute this file on any websites."

I myself have no desire to "sell" or specifically "distribute/redistribute" images or icons. I'm an affiliate marketer, not a art dealer.

This is what I'm doing - I am in the process of building a website that I would like to sell. Hopefully as time progresses I can build more sites, and sell them as well. My intent is to build affiliate type blogs. They would be based around either products or services; anything from CJ to clickbank and or amazon. Employing unique content and information, and in that light, hopefully providing value to the visitor. Built on existing WP themes. I will sprinkle in a image or icon "here or there."

Has anyone made any headway in understanding what the creators of these images/icons (in general) expect in the way of their words? or if the GNU license has any prohibited effect on someone in my position?

The wording of these licenses, and even the "to not distribute/redistribute" really seems to be targeted at those who come from a software developer's position.

Thank you very much. Any experience or perhaps someone with specific insight...
