Hi Guys

I am fairly new to affiliate marketing, got my first website up and running in April and to start with things were pretty slow, but the last 3 months have gone better than I ever imagined so quickly.

My dilemma really is that I now have a site that generates around 10k visits a month, 7k unique so I'm happy people are returning (I promote payday loans by the way). Now I don't spend a penny on marketing or anything like that, in fact my outgoings are less than ?30 a month and the revenue the site is generating for me is considerable (in my opinion, around 75x my costs). Now I don't know how I've done it, I honestly think I have just been a total fluke because i am ranking on page 1 of google for several relevant search terms, things like 'direct loan lender' or 'best payday loan sites'.

Whilst I am happy with everything at the moment, I know the reality is I could be getting 10k visitors a day in this sector but I am just scared stiff of changing anything on my site in case I lose the position I currently have. I want to make it better, but don't want to mess up what I've done - problem is I don't really know what I've done to make it rank so high.

I know the potential the site has, but my knowledge is really limited with regards to things like SEO and backlinking etc (I don't think I have any backlinks, or certainly less than 10). I really need help with this, professional guidance from someone experienced and I hope that I can find this here.

So, do I just leave it as it is and make hay while the sun shines, or try and make it better and get more visitors?

Any advice really appreciated

Thanks!

Maybe have somebody look at your site. Perhaps they can figure out what exactly you have done right. Do you have any friends / collegues that are SEO savvy?

Congratulations by the way! Once you know what you've done right try and repeat that with other niches and new sites.

Congrats on your success. Very, very competitive - so you are doing terrific.

What I would suggest is that you install a free tracker on your site like STATCOUNTER. You can install via Wordpress plugins dashboard or you can copy the code directly at the Statcounter site and add to your coding.

Once you have installed this, you will see the search terms people are using that brings them to your site. You will also find out where your visitors are coming from and what they are doing on the site. What links they click on etc.

You will get a boatload of information. Then you will be able to optimize your site better for the terms you are being found for.

You can also purchase plug ins that give you even more detail on the long tail keywords people are using but Statcounter will give you an excellent start.

Hi, FitGal,

How's StatCounter compared to Google Analytics in your opinion? I mean, for a newbie...I can't make much sense of GA, though I haven't read the manual, either -- but the StatCounter screenshots over at WordPress.org make the service seem intuitive. One very weird thing about GA I've noticed is that it seems to count my own page refreshes and clicks in my stats! WordPress' own JetPack plugin's stats functionality definitely does that, and I don't understand why anyone would imagine a website owner's own clicks and page refreshes should be tallied....

thumb up for you ....take care in the few coming steps but to dicover success you have to be brave and dare to make the right decisions .....if you knew how you did it come back to share it with others so they learn from you ...wish you the best
