Test, Test and do more Testing

The reason why we test in SEO is because we need to find out which routes to take ( I know what your thinking - "No Duh!")

Here's an example of a little test I did w/in this past week:

I recently wrote an article and stuck it on hubpages. Here's the deal w/ Hubpages. It gets you good ranking at first - but then it starts to plumit after the first 12 to 24 hours.

So now the object for me was to stop the plummeting and somehow get it to stay on the first page. Here's what happened:

Day one - submitted article and my article on hubpages was indexed very quickly by Google - and I was #10 on the first page.

Day Two - typical hubpages - my article started sinking and went down to #3 on the second page.

Day Three - started backlinking to the article with just simple sig links off of forums. At the end of the day - went up to #1 on the second page.

Day Four - Went to #10 on the first page

Today - Went to #5 on the first page.

So days two through five I did backlinking. My little experiment did work - at least so far.

My next test will be - I will stop backlinking next week, then we'll see if the article on hubpages goes down or stays put.

Of course - there are other factors that weighed in. I was in a very small niche that when I did the google command: allintitle:[title name] - there were only 127 other websites that had that same words in the title. Also, there were 121,000 returned results.

Anyway, this is what testing will do. Thought I would share it with you. :)

Well done. Whether you can sustain that is another question but even if you can prolong its visibility you're ahead of the standard game.

What is important when backlinking is the consistency. A few each day rather than 3,000 a day and then nothing.

Congratulations! :)
