Not that great w/ RSS - but if we get something great to spread around the net (from our website) - what site(s) do I go to for them to pick up and distribute it to the rest of the net.

I know - stupid question.

Hi Cat,

There's quite a bit to it so I won't type it all up, but will summarize and give you some links to more detail.

I assume you already have a blog set up and have an RSS feed?

1) Be sure you have an RSS button with a link to your feed so people can subscribe.

2) You need to submit your blog to blog syndication services. It's like submitting your site to directories in a way. You've heard of pinging your blog? Well that's my step 3, but before you can ping your blog you need to basically get it registered 1st.

Go to Ping-o-Matic!. Scroll down to where it says "Common Services" and click the links to submit your blog individually to some of the most popular ones.

3) PING - After you get your blog registered with them all, then it's easy. Each time you make a new blog post, just go to PingoMatic and ping your post. That will let all those services know you have a new post so they can pick up your content. (You can fill out the top of Pingomatic once then bookmark the page it goes to. Then next time you just hit the bookmark and don't need to fill the form again.)

4) Additionally setting up a Feedburner feed automates some of the this and also gives you other ways to promote your feed. Check it out.

Here's an article with more details.
