Though it's a great way to draw traffic your way, it would make little to no difference if none of the visitors ever return or stay on your site long enough to click on some ads or your affiliate links.

If you have to give your articles titles that entice readers to click on your links, back them up with quality content and your traffic will grow . . .

These days sensation goes viral either it can be either positive or negative. so better to place fresh content with catch title then users will be floated to your link, but ensure to keep relevant information or else you may be banned or penalized by the google search engine algorithm.
