Offline Affiliate Tracking - Plugging a Giant Leak

Affiliates don't talk about it often, not that I hear anyway... but one of the biggest commission leaks is when they turn a visitor on to a product and then the customer walks into the brick and mortar store to buy. The affiliate is out the commission, just like they are if the consumer buys from the big red 800# on the web site - if the merchant does not do phone tracking.

Up until recently there has not really been an option for brick and mortar in-store tracking, but the RevTrax affiliate network is working on changing that. Here's a previous post I did that includes a diagram showing how it all works.

Just discovered a good video interview of Jonathan Treiber, the CEO of RevTrax explaining their model and some of the offline tracking methods they use. The interview was conducted by CT Moore of ShareResults.

What do you think???

This just might make me a millionaire if they do this! :D

I am all for it!

They already are doing it but just for the merchants on their homepage.
They are still growing and just trying to add more merchants.

I guess I do not understand, do the visitors have to bring in a printable coupon?

Here's how it works:

1) Apply to join our network and the merchant's program on our homepage

2) You post an affiliate link on your site

(Note: We can track member ID and individual paid search keywords in this link)

3) A consumer prints the coupon, which has a unique barcode or promo code based on the information in the URL

4) The consumer shops in-store and the merchant pays out on each sale
