I'm not really sure how to get started here, I'm doing alot of research. I'm looking to use banner ads on my adult website to make some extra money and hopefully get more traffic. I'm a little bit intimidated by all this, not going to lie. but also excited. If anyone has any advice or pointers. They will be gladly welcomed.

Banner blindness is a real issue --host the banners that you use on you own server (where possible) and check the links against commonly used addblocker addon blocking lists. Porn or vanilla adult websites are often blocked --making your banners colorful decorations (if loaded and seen) and thus totally useless with the links blocked.

I am familiar with duck duck go. Thank you for the advice. I basically had to teach myself everything so far. This has been a huge learning curve. I can build a car but as far as a website goes I was clueless.
