MySQL for beginners?

I'd suggest w3school(search in google) for basic sql.I'm sure it will benefit you.

And before you get too much into the technical detail you should probably learn what you can about relational database design and normalisation. Otherwise you'll just end up creating poor performing and inflexible databases.

I would recommend a book from "HEAD-First" series. I have head-first Java which is simply awesome
