Multi blogger widget

I think there is a WP mod that enable multiple profile for bloggers on a single blog site (Not talking about WordPress MU). I use it a few years ago but forgot where I got it from.
Clues appriciated

Can't you just create a new user and login from new profile?
What is the purpose of this widget, so you can switch profiles without logging out?
