Larry Stops a 5 Star Spammer Dead in his Tracks!

Often the worse forum spammers hit in the middle of the night.
Partly because many are from Overseas and it's day time there
but MOSTLY because they figure US forum moderators are sound asleep.

Not so at the 5 Star forum!
Wiley Larwee stays up all night and deletes their spam so fast it makes their head spin.
Here is what our last unfortunate vicitm, errr.... spammer had to say...

That's funny Linda.

I would love to chase all of the spammers up a very tall tree.

I run into a lot of our overseas members in the middle of the night. Most of them are great people.

Unfortunately there are a lot of overseas spammers hard at work in the middle of the night. They are a pain.

The good thing is their spam usually isn't around here very long so this hasn't become known as a place were spammers can post and get away with it. Our members don't get a chance to see much of this spam, and that is good.

Of course spammers are in all parts of the world, including here in the United States.

I think we should all act like very big hungry cats then treat spammers as if they are rats and eat them alive.

I am always in a very bad mood after I get my shots. That might be a good time to let me loose on the Internet to go after those types of spam. The shots hurt and they put me on a very cold table.

Seems every other email I get in my Excite mail box is about that.
I guess that's why I seldom check that account any more.

Larry warn me the next time you are getting shots so I stay out of your way.

Seriously Great Job, that's a lot of work moderating a forum. I have done it in the past, and it can take a lot of time to do so...

Actually it's Larry that's the spam fighter, more than me.

We play good cop, bad cop sometimes. I always get to play the good cop!

(Kidding) we both have to drop the ban hammer sometimes to keep this place nice and clean for you guys. so good posts don't get lost in the noise.

Yeah, I used to own a directory and it was spammed all the time.

Pain in the ***. Luckily, for us bloggers, WP Askimet(sp?) grabs most comment spam for wordress users.

I'd say most people are here because they are self promoter though. Some just do it a lot more subtly.

gobbo mon, I don't know what you consider self promtion or even subtle self promotion, but I don't feel what you said is true. People might be here for reasons that benefit themselves but they aren't allowed to engage in self promotion

We do not allow self promotion or anything that even seems like self promotion in our discussion forums.

I certainly don't want people to think they can do sneaky things and get away with self promotion because it is not going to happen.

Also I don't want anyone to be encouraged to try any subtle self promotion. We don't want it and we aren't going to allow it in our discussion forums.

We do have some special forums where it is allowed under certain circumstances and everything is made very clear.

Generally speaking, self promotion is not going to be allowed whether it is blatant or subtle. No self promotion means no self promotion. I don't want anyone to think otherwise.
