Jing - Free HI RES ScreenCasting from the Camtasia People

We all know how hot video is, however until recently screencasting software was either expensive or free and buggy. I've been meaning to blog about Jing for awhile now. The Jing Project is brought to us by TechSmith, the makers of Camtasia. Jing is an easy HI-RES, FREE app that can instantly capture and share still-screen grabs and live screencast videos.

Watch this video to see how quick and easy it is to share anything you are doing on your desktop using Jing.

Jing goes way beyond screencasts for training and marketing and can be used as an instant communication tool. Think about this time-saving application for an affiliate manager. A common question comes up from affiliates on a regular basis. "How do I...?" or What's the best way to...? An affiliate IM's you with that same question. It's hard to explain but would be quick and easy if he was sitting right there with you and you could just show him how.

So you say "hang on and I'll show you how!" Jing sits on your desktop. You load it and do the task the affiliate asks about. Click "Share" and Jing puts a link on your clipboard that you can paste into the IM and right away your affiliate can watch how to do that task. Now you have a little mini-lesson you can add to your affiliate FAQ or just link to, the next time the question comes up.

Jing records in SUPER hi-resolution. It's free right now as they test the concept and decide where they are going to take the project. It works with both Windows and Mac and high quality media hosting is offered free for now too. Enjoy!

I've been wanting to make time to use this. There are so many things I could SHOW easier than typing a book to try to explain.

So I just had an idea. Not sure if anyone will play with me. But wouldn't it be cool if we started a little video mini-training series where some of our members would use JING to SHOW OFF their knowledge and teach members new tricks.

Someone could show how to hide links with HTaccess.
Another person could show how they use Google Trends for niche hunting.

Whatever... They don't need to be long or perfect. Just shows us informally
as if we were hanging at your house and said "how do you do that?"
