Is slider hurting SEO?

I was watching a video about a popup and the code of it was placed in the top of the main page and would be the first thing that Google would analyze when crawling the page and it was killing the ranking because it would see it as low value.

It occurred to me that I have a slider on my site that scrolls through 8 affiliate products and if you click on them it takes you to a review page of mine.

Could this be negatively effecting my SEO? I don't have a clue as to how to check this. If anyone wants to check this out my site is Top Exercise Workouts in my signature line.

I would be less worried about the slider than about the popup you have on your own site.

yes, i agree, popup are the most bad thing for SEO...

It is a valid point, I think, your header code is very important and I would not want to sacrifice it for the sake of a slider.
