One thing I have noticed, and my sample is not significant by any means, is that the less options for retailers you throw out there, the better chance you have of a conversion.
On a couple of my affiliate sites, I had my main products and then several banners to other places selling the same products. Seemed like this was too much info for the average shopper, lots of clicks but less conversions. Pulling back to 2-3 retailers per site max really seems to have helped so far.
