I recently set-up a mobile version of my WordPress driven blog, located at Professional Web Developer, Designer - Wordpress Theme Design - Ottawa, Canada - Wilder Tweedale Web Design - Blog. I currently have it set up so that my blog detects whether or not a user is visiting the page on a mobile device, and if it is, it loads a mobile-friendly theme rather than the default one. The process of setting this up was very easy and painless, as you?ll read about in a second.
First off, I downloaded and installed a great WordPress plugin called BAAP Mobile Version which allows you to both a) load a different theme for users browsing on mobile devices or b) Redirect mobile device users to another URL using domain mapping. Or so it says; I didn?t actually try that domain mapping out.
Then I downloaded the open source WordPress theme Carrington Mobile and proceeded to create a simple child theme for it (For an explanation of what Child themes are and how they work, see my other post).
