Blogging software platforms like wordpress can be hosted on your own servers so you have full control of the data, which is the best option. If you don't have your own website, you can use blogspot, typepad, and the wordpress version which is not hosted on your own servers, but if you are serious about blogging to make money spend the money on hosting and a domain to host it yourself. Wordpress is the most popular blogging platform which is very well supported and has a ton of wordpress themes which can be customized, so probably go with that. All in all, if you haven't got a blog, you are not keeping up with your competition!
